on the plus side, a world famous photographer who graced the front page of radikal last sunday is in our office today and i may be lucky enough to get to eat some pizza with her. or her eat a salad and me a pizza. and no salad station for her because i'm morally opposed to their idiot slimy delivery guy who keeps ripping me off for a few lira every time he delivers. hatehatehate.
interesting fact about the term idiot:
A dunce is an idiot who is specifically incapable of learning. An idiot differs from a fool (who is unwise) and an ignoramus (who is uneducated/an ignorant), neither of which refers to someone with low intelligence.so the word idiot actually comes from the same word for an individual. really interesting etymology - being concerned with oneself rather than the community, which was the 'state of nature' human, changed only through education. but wouldn't that make the idiot really an ignoramus?
