DAY NINETY SOMETHING

like so many uplifting stories, this one starts with cruelty and heartbreak! but ends with a crow adopting a kitten, so it's awesome.

i'll update the date once i find it out - new browser means no saved dates yet.

it's reached a piles of kittens and puddles of puppies day already, and not even 11!

i saw an amazing show last night, and am very sad for those who wanted to see it but didn't get to. st. vincent was probably the best show i've seen in this city. this shoutout is for the chick with the very large, triangular purse, who got into an argument with me about whether or not her abnormally large purse was the reason that i kept bumping into her.

i was trying to look up why kaufors in turkey are mainly men, while in the US people who cut women's hair are mostly women, but instead found a very poorly cited article on wikipedia. xkcd to the rescue!

i learned on QI that the purple heart was used for seventh day adventists in concentration camps. i had no idea. instead, a poem by sylvia plath: you do not do, you do not do... and a much cuter one by ee cummings about a beautiful day:

who are you,little i

(five or six years old)
peering from some high

window;at the gold

of November sunset

(and feeling:that if day
has to become night

this is a beautiful way)

and a revelation! unlike what the jacket cover says, thick as a brick was actually NOT written by a little boy and was instead written by ian anderson, rock flautist extraordinare.
