Cute little girls with powerful blogs can spur change. It's also interesting to see how the lunches differ between areas - those filled with richies have nutritious lunches. Those that aren't as well known for richies look a lot worse and less healthy.
detroiiiiiiiiiit what? cool kids galore?? and good.is, all it took was a simple click to figure out it was not salon, but nytimes that said cool kids. oh! i can't believe i missed this! companies owned by friends! and, of course, mostly in corktown, midtown and eastern market. sad the article doesn't mention the rather limited areas that have been helped by folks like tommyguns.
And continuing on that theme, the article, WHICH YOU MUST READ, ruin porn - features a WONDERFUL picture of a place that was fantastic for urban exploration, smack dab in corktown:
Interesting fact: if you go to encyclopedia dramatica's article on Detroit (which has the ever lovely memorial song "It's so cold in the D" - major thanks to Kenyon for sending that my way long ago) - there's this picture of a typical Detroit resident.
That, my dear readers, is a person who died and was frozen to death in the bottom of that glorious building above, frozen so long that he became encased by ice and had to be removed from the ice with chainsaws. That building's not more than a few blocks away from my Bagley street apartment. Backstory here. It's depressing.
